A New Way Of Thinking

The other day I was talking with my mom about how I want to get my own little piece of land, build a straw bale house, barn, have gardens, chickens and maybe goats.  She loved the idea, but also reminded me that talking about something and actually doing it is two completely different things.

I really have had to stop and think about what I am cut out to do at this point in my life.  It really requires a new way of thinking.

Bread From Stones

Last year, was the wettest spring I have had in a while, and I was about a month late in planting my garden because it was so muddy.  This gives me another reason to have a greenhouse on the homestead, but I will talk about greenhouses in another post.

After planting my first heirloom tomatoes, my entire crop was taken out by blight or some other issue.  The only tomatoes that survived were the ones that came up in a completely different area from a seed that was a stray.  I was really sad about this.
